Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport is Morocco’s main international hub, with direct flights from North America, Europe and the Middle East. Starting here lets you see the country in a natural loop: north to the imperial cities, across the Middle Atlas to the Sahara, then south-west to Marrakech.
Most tours start at the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world and one of the few in Morocco that non-Muslims can visit on a guided tour. From there, routes head to Rabat, the capital, and the Blue City of Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains. Next come the Roman ruins of Volubilis and the medieval medina of Fes, then the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, the Sahara dunes at Merzouga, the gorges of the south and Ait Ben Haddou on the way to Marrakech.
Seven days is the minimum to see the imperial cities, the Sahara and Marrakech without rushing. Nine to twelve days lets you add Chefchaouen, the coast and rest days.
