How to Choose the Right Morocco Tour
Morocco is bigger than most people expect, and the drive from Marrakech to the Sahara alone takes two days. The two things that shape your trip are how many days you have and which city you fly into. Every tour on this page is private, with your own vehicle and a local driver-guide, and every route can be adjusted.
By trip length
- 2 to 4 days: a Sahara desert tour from Marrakech or Fes, with a night in a desert camp at Merzouga or Erg Chegaga. The quickest desert overnight is our 2-day Zagora tour. For a first trip, the 4-day Marrakech to Fes desert tour is our favorite.
- 5 to 7 days: the Sahara plus one or two imperial cities. It's the most popular length for a first trip, for example our 7-day imperial cities and Sahara tour.
- 8 to 10 days: Marrakech, the Sahara, Fes and Chefchaouen at a comfortable pace, as on our 10-day Marrakech, Sahara and Blue City tour. Or take the one-way 8-day tour from Marrakech to Chefchaouen.
- 12 to 14 days: the full country, including the Atlantic coast and rest days, on our 14-day Morocco tour.
By arrival city
- Marrakech: the closest big city to the Sahara, and the best start for desert tours and southern loops.
- Casablanca: the main long-haul airport, and a natural start for a full loop of the imperial cities, the Sahara and Marrakech.
- Fes: the shortest route to the Merzouga dunes from the north.
- Tangier: the gateway from Spain by ferry, heading south via Chefchaouen.
- Agadir: flying in from Europe? Our 4-day desert tour from Agadir crosses the Anti-Atlas to Merzouga and ends in Marrakech.
Short on time? Browse our private day trips from Marrakech, Fes and Tangier, such as the Agafay desert sunset camel ride and dinner. Want a challenge? Climb North Africa's highest peak on the 2-day Mount Toubkal trek.
What's Included on Our Private Tours
Multi-day tours include a private air-conditioned vehicle, your driver-guide, fuel, hand-picked riads and hotels, a night in a Sahara desert camp, breakfasts and most dinners, and a sunset camel ride on desert routes. Each tour page lists exactly what is and isn't included. Entrance fees, lunches and tips are usually paid locally.
Best Time to Visit Morocco
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the best times for a Morocco tour: warm days, cool nights and comfortable weather everywhere from the mountains to the desert. Summer is hot in Marrakech and the Sahara but pleasant on the coast. Winter is sunny and quiet, with snow on the High Atlas and cold desert nights.
