Semester at Sea Morocco 2027: Port Guide, Dates and Trip Plans

Semester at Sea Morocco 2027 is on the calendar twice. The Spring 2027 voyage lists Morocco between Ghana and Scotland, and the Fall 2027 voyage also stops in the country. You have only a few free days in port, so this page gives you ready-made routes, a day-by-day plan and the ship-timing rules that keep you out of trouble.

Choose Your Semester at Sea Morocco 2027 Route

We build every trip around your field program and the ship’s schedule. These are the three plans students ask for most.

Route A · 4 days
Tangier, Sahara, Marrakech
Chefchaouen, the Atlas Mountains, a night at the desert camp near Erg Chebbi, then Marrakech and the train north.
Route B · 3 days
From Casablanca via Marrakech
Train to Marrakech, then the Sahara over the Atlas Mountains and back to the coast in time for the ship.
Route C · 1 day
Chefchaouen from Tangier
A short day in the Blue City for students with only one free day in port.

Semester at Sea Morocco 2027 Route A, Day by Day

You pass the Ziz Valley palm groves and arrive at our desert camp near Erg Chebbi. Camels take you out for sunset, then dinner, Berber music and a sky without light pollution.

Why Students Pick This Semester at Sea Morocco 2027 Plan

Time
Four days cover four Moroccos
The Blue City, the Atlas Mountains, the Sahara and Marrakech fit into one trip without a flight.
Safety
One driver-guide the whole way
The same local guide stays with your group from Tangier to the train station.
Cost
One vehicle for the whole group
In a group of six to fifteen, the cost per person drops compared with small separate bookings.
Flexibility
Built around your dates
We adjust the plan to your field program and to the ship’s departure time.

Each route includes transport in one vehicle, a driver-guide, the accommodation each night including the desert camp, and the camel trek. Meals vary by plan, so we confirm what is covered before you book.

What We Know About the 2027 Voyages

The Spring 2027 voyage leaves Bangkok on January 5, 2027 and ends in Bremerhaven, Germany on April 20, 2027. Semester at Sea’s announcement lists Morocco after Ghana and before Scotland. The Fall 2027 voyage sails from the Netherlands to Portugal, Morocco, Brazil, St. Helena and South Africa, as reported by Cruise Industry News.

Confirmed Morocco port dates (as listed by Semester at Sea)
Spring 2027
Tangier, March 31 to April 5
Listed on the Spring 2027 voyage page, after Ghana and before Leith, Scotland.
Fall 2027
Morocco, September 22 to 27
The voyage page says Tangier, but the announcement says Casablanca. The port city is not yet settled.
Spring 2027 itineraries from Tangier
March 31 to April 4 · 5 days
The longest option, with an extra stop in Fes: Tangier, Chefchaouen, Fes, the Atlas Mountains, the Sahara at Merzouga, Marrakech, then the train back to Tangier on April 4. See our Fes to Merzouga guide.
April 1 to April 4 · 4 days
Our Route A: Tangier, Chefchaouen, the Atlas Mountains, the Sahara, Marrakech, then the train back to Tangier on April 4, a day before the ship leaves.
April 2 to April 5 · 4 days
The same route as Route A, shifted one day later. You return to Tangier on April 5, the ship’s last day in port, so the buffer is the tightest.
Other routes
Route B · 3 days
Fall 2027 (if Casablanca): the best fit, with a train to Marrakech and a return to the coast before the ship leaves on September 27.
Route C · 1 day
Spring 2027 (Tangier): any day between April 1 and April 4.
Fall 2027 (Tangier): any day between September 23 and 26.
Fall 2027 · 4 days
If the ship calls at Tangier, the Route A itinerary runs on the same pattern as Spring. We set the start dates once the port is announced.

Exact all-aboard times are set by the ship and announced close to the port call, so treat the days above as planning dates. Tell us your voyage and we will confirm the plan once the times are published.

Semester at Sea Morocco 2027: Getting Back to the Ship on Time

The three rules. Book the return train a few days ahead, because seats fill fast when many students travel on the same dates. Keep a buffer of several hours between your last stop and the all-aboard time. Ask your guide to confirm road and train times the day before.

A missed departure is not something a tour company can fix afterwards, so the buffer matters more than any extra stop. Our guide to train, bus or rental car in Morocco explains the options.

Group Booking and What to Pack

Our planning guide for study abroad groups covers group sizes, payments and what a private tour should include. For a short trip, pack light: a warm layer for desert nights, a scarf, comfortable shoes and some dirhams. The full list is in what to pack for the Sahara. If you want more days, our 6 day tour from Tangier to Marrakech covers more of the country.
