A Morocco spring break swaps the usual beach party for camel rides, desert camps, blue streets and busy souks. It is close to Europe, good value for students and very different from home. In four to seven days you can see Marrakech, cross the High Atlas and sleep under the stars in the Sahara. This guide shows how to plan a Morocco spring break, with routes, timing, costs and tips. It comes from our family team in Merzouga and Marrakech, who guide student groups every spring.
Why choose a Morocco spring break?
Most spring break trips look the same. Morocco gives you something your friends have not done yet. You get mountains, desert, history and food in one short trip, and spring is one of the best seasons for the Sahara. For students studying in Europe, flights are short too. Read our guide to Morocco for students.

When to plan your Morocco spring break
Spring brings warm days and cool nights to the desert, which is ideal for camel rides and dune walks. Nights in the Sahara can still be cold, so pack a warm layer. See our full guide to the best time to visit Morocco and what to wear in the Sahara.
Morocco spring break routes: 4, 5 or 7 days
Choose the route that fits your break. Every one starts in Marrakech and includes a night in the desert:
- 3 or 4 days: Marrakech, the High Atlas, Ait Ben Haddou, the Dades Valley and the Todra Gorge, then a camel ride and a night in the Erg Chebbi dunes. See the 3 day student Sahara tour and the 4 day student Sahara tour, which adds a full day in the desert.
- 5 days: The same desert route, then north through the Middle Atlas to Fes for a guided day in the medina. See the 5 day student Sahara and Fes tour.
- 7 days: Add Chefchaouen, Rabat and Casablanca for the full loop. See the 7 day student tour of Morocco.
