Celebrity Infinity in Tangier: Shore Excursions and Port Day Guide

Celebrity Infinity Tangier calls give you one day in Morocco, and it can be the most memorable stop of the whole cruise. The ship docks right next to the old city, so you can walk into the medina in minutes or drive out to the Atlantic, the Caves of Hercules or the blue town of Chefchaouen. This Celebrity Infinity Tangier guide explains when the ship calls, where it docks, how long you have and which shore excursions fit your port day, from a local team that meets cruise guests in Tangier.

Celebrity Infinity Tangier itinerary: when the ship calls

Celebrity Infinity is a Millennium class ship that entered service in 2001 and carries about 2,170 guests. In Morocco, she sails mainly on 12 night round trips from Barcelona that also visit Madeira and the Canary Islands. On these routes, Tangier is usually the only Moroccan port and the last stop before Barcelona.

Port schedules list Celebrity Infinity Tangier calls on 24 and 29 November, 11 December and 30 December 2026, according to CruiseTimetables. More calls follow through 2027. Gangwaze shows the 3 March 2027 sailing in Tangier from 6 AM to 3 PM. The 12 December 2027 sailing stays from 7 AM to 5 PM. Always check the times in your own cruise documents, because they can change.

Celebrity Infinity Tangier cruise terminal: where the ship docks

The Tangier cruise port is the Port of Tangier Ville, the city’s original harbor, which has been redeveloped with a modern terminal. Cruisesheet says ships dock directly at the pier, so there is no tender. The terminal has tourist information, cafes and a few shops. The medina gate is about a 5 to 10 minute walk away, and the kasbah sits at the top of the old city.

From the Tangier cruise port, blue petit taxis cover the city and grand taxis go further out. A private driver waiting at the terminal is the easiest choice for Cap Spartel, Asilah or Chefchaouen. Your guide meets you with a sign carrying your name and brings you back to the ship in good time.

From the Celebrity Infinity Tangier pier, Africa starts a ten minute walk away, at the gate of the old medina.

Tangier medina, kasbah and the American Legation

Many Celebrity Infinity Tangier guests start their Tangier shore excursions with the old city. Walk through the Grand Socco and the Petit Socco, climb to the kasbah and its museum, and look out over the Strait of Gibraltar toward Spain. American guests often love the American Legation, a building the Sultan gave to the United States in 1821. Today it is the only US National Historic Landmark in a foreign country. Our things to do in Tangier guide covers every stop in detail.

Cap Spartel and the Caves of Hercules

West of the city, Cape Spartel marks the northwestern tip of Africa, where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic. Its lighthouse dates from 1864. A little further along the coast, the Caves of Hercules open to the sea through a gap shaped like a map of Africa. The drive takes about 30 minutes each way, so this pairs well with the medina in one Celebrity Infinity Tangier day. It is one of the most popular Tangier shore excursions, and part of our Cap Spartel and Hercules Cave day trip.

Chefchaouen, the blue city

Chefchaouen sits in the Rif Mountains, and its blue alleys are among the most photographed places in Morocco. The drive takes about 2 to 2.5 hours each way, so this trip only works on longer Celebrity Infinity Tangier calls, such as a 7 AM to 5 PM day. That leaves around three hours in town before the drive back. A private car with an early start makes it possible. Find out why Chefchaouen is blue, or see our day trip from Tangier to Chefchaouen.

Asilah on the Atlantic coast

For a calmer day, head south to Asilah, a small walled town with Portuguese era ramparts, a whitewashed medina and murals painted on its walls. It is closer than Chefchaouen, so it fits shorter Celebrity Infinity Tangier calls and combines well with Cap Spartel. Read our Asilah Morocco guide or see the day trip from Tangier to Asilah.

Celebrity Infinity Tangier: private tour or ship excursion?

On a Celebrity Infinity Tangier day, the ship’s own Tangier shore excursions are simple, but they move in big groups on a fixed plan. A private tour lets your own family or friends travel at your pace, choose the stops and spend longer where you enjoy it. With a local team, your driver watches the clock for you and plans a safe margin before all aboard time. Our How booking works page explains the deposit and payment, and the FAQ answers the usual questions.

Good to know: Be back at the ship at least 30 to 60 minutes before departure, or earlier if your cruise documents say so. Carry some Moroccan dirhams for tea, tips and small shops, because euros get poor rates and dollars are less accepted. See cash in Morocco and tipping in Morocco.
